I’m Having Their Baby
I have had three pregnancies and two beautiful boys to speak of but I don’t know what I would do if I had been told that I would have challenges becoming pregnant or carrying a baby to full-term.
Even though nine months of pregnancy is not the most ideal state to be in, I would not hesitate to carry a child for someone who might not get the opportunity to otherwise become a parent of their own.
The new docu-drama, “I’m Having Their Baby,” sounds like a powerful one and I plan on checking it out to see the touching and inspiring stories of families welcoming a new baby into the world through adoption and with the help of surrogate mothers.
Many women become pregnant without trying while others struggle with infertility. Whether we have experienced either of these challenges ourselves, we know of others who have had to make difficult decisions regarding motherhood and how to move forward when pregnancy – or lack thereof- leads us in a direction we might not have thought we’d ever be on.

Oxygen Media recently announced the premiere of its newest docu-series “I’m Having Their Baby” on Monday, July 23 at 11PM ET/PT. The powerful six-part series gives viewers an intimate peek into the world of adoption by telling the too-often untold story of the birth mother and her experience in making this difficult and emotional choice.
Each installment follows two pregnant women who have made the choice to place their babies for adoption, and are making the life changing decisions that come next. In getting to know the birth mother, and in some cases the birth father and potential adoptive couple, the hour-long episodes allow viewers to bear witness to not only the adoption process, but the actual birth and heart wrenching final decision that each woman must face. The series documents a range of poignant, personal stories as the women struggle with an unplanned pregnancy and ultimately, decide whether or not to place their baby in the hands of another family. However diverse the case, there is one thing that’s common – each woman wants the brightest future for her unborn child, and a better life for herself.
“‘I’m Having Their Baby’ represents a unique program offering for Oxygen, one that shows an honest portrayal of women who are in the midst of dealing with the most difficult decision of their lives,” said Rod Aissa, Senior Vice President, Original Programming and Development, Oxygen Media. “These human interest stories are extremely powerful and relatable to our predominately female audience, as it reveals themes of love, hardship, and strength.”
The premiere episode features Amanda, a 28-year-old mother raising two boys, as well as her boyfriend’s son, in Chehalis, WA. This mom knows how much work goes into parenting, and given her current economic situation, feels she cannot properly support another child. Mariah, 8-months pregnant, is also profiled in the first episode. She lives with her boyfriend and 9-month-old daughter in Anderson, IN. As the 18-year-old mom of an infant, Mariah knows she cannot afford another child and doesn’t want to turn out like many other girls in her community: a young, struggling, single mother.
