While the short essay format makes Who Peed on My Yoga Mat? a quick read, you’ll want to savor each story and let them sink in a little bit. Using humor to guide her through some sticky conversations and awkward moments, Davidson’s honest portrayal of what one mom goes through on a daily basis will have you laughing out loud and nodding in agreement.
My favorite chapter – the one I could relate to most of all – was the story where her son swore at the dinner table (I thought my kids invented swearing) and she questioned whether or not to let it slide.
Hearing my son talk like that for the first time left me conflicted. What he’d said was funny, and I admired the quick delivery. But, of course, I couldn’t admit that. Or could I?
Between watching adorably annoying toddlers transform into text-obsessed teens, and facing inevitable moments of marital “for worse,” a girl’s got to carve out time for inner peace. As she did in Blacklisted From The PTA, Davidson shows us once again that laughing at yourself and your family is the surest path to tranquility — or at least the most fun. You can find my review of her first book here (where she lists the top ten reasons to date your spouse).
